PATRONUS The Imperial guardian lion partly for it's fierce nature and guardian elements mixed with cycle of life (female) and partly for the Chinese past of wisdom and seeking knowledge in ways very different from other cultures. Her patronus will often show as mother and cub (cub always minor and cycling around mother).
PERSONALITY
A serious minded young lady, Lia sees no reason why being female and scientifically oriented should hamper her in life nor in magic. She has proof her abilities are good and solid regardless of blood nor of training and she spends more time with her studies due to lack of social life more then through desire. Understanding the roots of how magic works in an attempt to get a grip on this new world that has opened to her is her main desire and most else seems minor in comparison. Thus gaining friends and learning how to deal with boys (who she treats as smellier and more goofy then girls naturally) she is way behind on and thus an easier target as well.
She gets her seriousness from both her parents and thus can rarely be found to be making jokes or being silly. She does recognize the advantages of magic over her own parent's world and would love to see the two combined in some way. She does study logic and physics a lot during the summer, both out of interest and a desire to find a common ground with her normal studies. She reads to learn, mind you, not out of a love for books which she sees as good tools, but not the best as experience. Real study of the nature of magic has to wait till after graduation however so she works with books to get a good basis for what she really wants for a future.
Transfiguration is easily her best subject with potions close behind, but COMC and Divination will never be elements she has any real skill in.

Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort.

HISTORY
Oskar and Addison met while on mutual family vacations in South Africa and hit it off while waiting for a delayed flight back. Keeping up a steady mailing, they made the effort to get together three times more that year in both England and in Norway and when both went off to school the wedding followed shortly thereafter. After she got her degree she moved to Norway as he finished his degree and although she loved the people and the more sensible social approach to things, she longed for home. After a lot of discussion, when she found herself expecting they made a deal and moved back to near her parents for the birth. Every other year now they switch back to the other country so that their children are raised in both environments learning to appreciate the difference in cultures.
Lia grew up thus in two cultures, being equally diverse in both languages (of course the Scandinavian languages overlap so this counts for more then just Norway) and social aspects. Although she loves the English countryside and her grandparents home, she likes the Norwegian culture and care for all aspects of society more. Her brother is not quite the opposite, but he can be excused that he has more friends in England then the reverse which is a large influence. Lia grew up believing that all people deserve a chance and no one should be judged on their appearances. Her mother thought her daughter the most beautiful girl ever and began trying to influence her into becoming a model.
Her father, however, wanted Lia to make up her own mind on what she would be so while her mother taught her about poise and posing, her father taught her about logic and self-awareness. In school she began to absorb all she could about math and science, seeing the understanding of how the world's laws worked and man's concepts as key to a happy future. This became especially important to her as she started to catch her and her brother's toys moving by themselves! Only a week after their toys began to come to a sort of half-life did they get a visit from a robed stranger and her future was turned upon it's ear! The family were quite taken aback that magic existed and could be quantifiable (both parents were quite shocked, her brother took it better) as the woman was quite amused to prove.
Going to Hogwarts was like learning the moon is really purple and the size of a melon.
The first few months felt like she was in a weird drug trip, not quite real and more bemusing then anything else. She did the assignments and met new people, but she didn't really invest herself until she saw her first transformation done not by a teacher but by herself. It was barely even acceptable, but seeing the hard physical evidence (she has the needle still although it is oddly toad like to the touch and sight) convinced her. From then on it's been science in magic and learning the underling concepts first in every subject they study. And it has proven to be of great benefit to her as her grades have been quite solid ever since. While classes are great, the rest of her time there has not been as successful as friends are hard to keep. Her now learned grace and movement have become second nature as has posing naturally in doorways and when meeting others.
People tend to think her a snob at first glance, a know-it-all in first conversations, and confusingly unsocial the more they get to know her. She has all the poise and natural movements of an upper-society model with none of the interest in follow through nor the knowledge of how to begin. Her muggleborn hampered-background has made it further difficult to make friends easily and she finds herself at ends with the upper class in her own dorm due to her belief in the wealth of civilization being everyone's moral obligation to help everyone else up to their level. The Slytherins have been especially cruel towards her social comments and she has not been the happiest with others causing her to retreat more into studies giving others the impression she is better-then-us or study-minded Ravenclaw.
She needs not only help, she needs to learn how to ask for it.

RP SAMPLE.
'At the beginning of all things practically speaking,' she wrote carefully, 'there is an urge to come to grips with the rules of process which change dramatically depending on whether social, scientific, or chaos,' (her own variation of the word for magic or 'thaumaturgy' as her father joked dryly. A cleared throat and she turned her head seeing one of the younger years giving her the eye at the table. "Dahlia, what--" "Lia, Scarlett," she corrected only to be ignored as usual "--should you do if a boy pulls your hair?" Lia blinked as she looked at her, wondering at what point logic leaves the mind in some people. "Did you like it?" A shaken head as a reply caused her almost to sigh.
"Then either pull his harder to show him you don't or kick him I would think if you so feel like it." The younger Scarlett thought about this a second before opening her mouth. 'Oh goodness, she going to spout some nonsense she heard from one of the girls...' "Suzie says that means he likes me and is trying to get my attention." Suzie, another second year nodded as if she needed to confirm this was her idea and lay claim to it. "That's what my sister says," as if that was holy writ and not to be argued with. "But you would be giving him attention if you kick him or pull his hair," she pointed out as the two younger girls looked at each other, "and you did say you didn't like it."
They seemed to accept this and she turned back to her writing as she sensed more then saw Scarlett get off the chair and walk away followed by her friend. She wrote a side note in the margin she left usually only for tidbits 'The younger girls don't seem to have much sense of what's right and what's wrong,' and a loud and high pitched "OI!" sounded out behind her 'and seem to depend on others to do their thinking for them.' followed by the sound of a table being knocked over as a scuffle began.
