LIKES
[1] Dark Magic: In theory; Adrien doesn't actually practice it actively. He just thinks that it is interesting, and that ties in somewhat with...
[2] History: ...this! Adrien likes to learn more about the history of witch and wizard life. He knows that once upon a time magic was more primal, and less inhibited. The fact that people were once so uncivilized just fascinates him, the way that different cultures fascinate other people.
[3] The French Language: Having attended Beauxbatons, that is the language that he is most used to despite having grown up mostly in England. He is bilingual, and he loves when people can talk to him in either language. He has a slight accent from his time in France.
[4] Chocolate: He eats a lot of candy, and he does it without even realizing how much he is having. When he's studying, he often has something like a candy bar, and before he knows it, it's gone.
[5] Groups of People: Not because he wants to be a part of things. Instead, it's because he knows that he can lose himself in a crowd and no one would even know that he existed.
[6] Talking Over Each Other: Nothing gets him more irritated in an argument than people who don't let the other talk. He doesn't like to be wrong, and might not always admit it, but no one can say that he doesn't hear the other person out.
[7] Reading: He can read no matter what is going on around him, even if it is a room full of people who are laughing and talking loudly. He just disappears into his books, and is sometimes hard to call back.
[8] Family: His mother, and even his new family, though he has mixed feelings (as evidenced by their being on the dislikes). He would never admit it, but part of him is pleased if someone says that he and one of the girls look like they are related. That acceptance is something that he really wants, though he won't let himself realize it.
DISLIKES
[1] Being Ordinary: He might sometimes like to go by unnoticed, but he doesn't want to be forgettable to those that do notice him. He wants to be something different, even though he is not sure on what it is.
[2] Tough Guys: The ones that think that everything can be settled with violence or threats. He thinks that they aren't any better than animals, really.
[3] Mistreatment of Women: It's one of those issues that would make him actually do more than just speak his mind. If he were to witness a girl being hurt, mentally or physically, he might snap.
[4] The Odair Family: Not that he dislikes any of them in particular, he just doesn't like the situation that he's been placed in. He doesn't want to be the black sheep, or to be left out... however, by not even trying, he's obviously making himself into the loner. He knows it, too, and that just makes him even more bothered.
[5] Sickness: He has a weak immune system and tends to get sick rather often. But he's stubborn about it, and determined to get through classes... until a professor sends him to the hospital wing because he won't stop coughing or sneezing.
[6] Drinkers: Whether they're too happy, too sad, or too angry, there is always some kind of extreme. He would just rather not puzzle out what they mean and what they don't. Plus there is the danger of a girl trying to get him to be with them for the night then acting like he took advantage of them. He hasn't had that happen, but he's had friends have that happen.
[7] Lazy Days: He doesn't do well when he has nothing to do. He would rather have to worry about school than sit around doing something fun. That's what the reading is for. At least he is getting something out of it that will, ideally, stay with him.
[8] Know-It-Alls: People who tell you everything about everything, right or wrong, and whether you want to hear it or not.
BOGGART He fears rejection and abandonment, in general.
MIRROR OF ERISED Acceptance, and the feeling of contentment that comes with knowing who you are and that you belong.
PATRONUS Meerkat – despite his many concerns about it, he does value family, and he is also protective. He watches for threats to the safety of the people that he loves.
PERSONALITY His whole life seems to have turned upside down ever since his mother married another man. Adrien is thought of being somewhat moody, mainly because he likes to be by himself much of the time, and if he's doing something that requires quiet like reading, he could snap at people. It isn't something that he means to do, and he immediately feels sorry for it, but he has trouble apologizing for things when he really means it. Since he was young he was taught the value of manners. He apologizes easily for things that he is not responsible for, and thanks people over the smallest of things. But a genuine heartfelt apology or show of gratitude is difficult for him. Being fake doesn't come easily to Adrien even though it does to a lot of people that he knows. At the end of the day, he is still himself, and he hates when people try to get him to be something that he isn't. He would not openly rebel against what people want him to be, because... that wouldn't be him, either. He'd probably just raise a brow and then carry on with what he was doing before.
Before the whole step-family business went down, he was a much more open person, one that smiled and laughed often. He's warm to the people that he's close to, and one wouldn't want for a confidant when he cares for them. He is more of a listener than a speaker, however. He will tell people the way that he feels about things, and his thoughts, but he isn't so open about his emotions. He doesn't bottle them, he just has a few people that he'll trust with them. He would rather not have the hassle of gossip and misunderstandings in situations where it really matters.
He has a jealousy streak in him, when he cares enough about people. He won't do something to drive them away from other people, but he surely doesn't take to the 'other people' well. As with his mother. When she had him relocate with her to be married, Adrien saw that as an end to the relationship that they had before, where he thought that they both just relied on each other. Accepting that there are more people in the circle now is still hard for him. Deep down, he does want to accept them, but he's kind of afraid that if he comes to care about them, then they will reject him instead. So far he has avoided them, mostly. Romantic relationships would probably be similar, in that Adrien would treasure the time that he spends with the person and feel slightly resentful of others. It is not exactly that he is possessive, it's more that so many people have walked away from him for people that they prefer to be around that he fears it will happen again.
He seems like a materialistic jerk, but he may actually be opposite to that. He does have a lot of possessions, and gets most things that he wants, but it's only because that's the way that it has been his entire life. He has a small box of things that actually mean something to him, but most material items aren't that important. He believes that reading and filling his mind with knowledge is more valuable than anything. What one has in their mind, no one can take away (with the exception of certain magical things in that universe). And relationships with other people are even more important to him than that, despite the fact that most people think he doesn't care about people and only about his books. He is not one to be physical with another person, but without realizing it that's the sort of thing that he responds to the best. A touch on the arm as he's talking with someone, for example, establishes a thin feeling of trust. That is a good way to start, because a big part of why he hasn't even tried to come around to his new family is that he doesn't feel like he can trust anyone... Not even his own mother.
He has high ambitions, because he actually day-dreams quite a lot. He would like to be a wandmaker, as he is interested in the way that every wand is different for every witch and wizard. And if he can't do that, then he would like to be a Potioneer. Maybe he doesn't realize it, but he wants to do something that will leave a mark of his own on the world, whether it be by the wands that he makes or the potions that he invents.

HISTORY
Adrien was born and raised in England, but attended school at Beauxbatons. His father was never in his life, so he always felt as though it was he and his mother against the rest of the world. She was the sort of person that didn't particularly want to work or do things for herself. It had been that way for as long as he could remember. There were occasionally men around that she would have do little things for her, but there wasn't a stable father-figure in his life. And he preferred it that way, because he had a general dislike for men after his father was never around. Who needed someone like that, anyway? Alexia was a strong person that could take care of herself, and when she needed help, he would be there. And so it was for years.
His school life was rather satisfying as well. He had a girlfriend by the name of Gracie Dahne, and the two of them shared high ambitions, and actually intended to use each other for gains of respect and reputation. Both were from pure-blood families after all, and both were intelligent. He was near the top of his class. His interest in wand lore came from a man that lived nearby, a man who didn't make the wands himself but was a man who sought out cores to sell to the makers. He would spend hours talking to him about the cores, which were fascinating in large part because many of the cores came from creatures that he had never seen before. So the tales about how he got them were interesting... And then, somewhere along the line, he began to think that he would like to make wands himself, and put his own touch on them. Designs on the wood, for instance. He has a lot of ideas, and even draws them out in a sketchpad.
Things changed when his mother married into the Odair family. It was almost as though he didn't exist or something, as his mother seemed determined to 'allow' Brian to take care of her so that she wouldn't have to work. And to seal the deal, the plot seems to involve another child. He was able to finish the year before at Beauxbatons, but was forced to change to Hogwarts for his final year. He is not pleased with that mainly because he had to leave his girlfriend (who broke it off in a letter) and because now it means that he has to get used to new surroundings altogether. Adrien is angry about all that, and directs it without even meaning to on everyone around him, even those who have nothing to do with it. He intends on getting to know his step-sisters a little, but he absolutely refuses to take his new step-father's surname. And the family seems to hold more secrets than he even wants to delve into. It's like being left out of the world's worst inside joke... But worse, because it seems more official now that his mother is pregnant with Brian's child.
