PERSONALITY
A dutiful and intelligent professor, Leila loves to teach her students. Her favorite subject at Hogwarts is and has always been alchemy, and so it only fitted to have her apply for the position as the alchemy professor. Having delved into books so frequently as a child, Leila studied hard and eventually became #1 in her academics. Because Leila loves books so much, she is often found diving into a book when she is not teaching or doing something else productive. Leila is hardly ever lazy and tends to encourage her students to learn. While Leila tends to be book-smart as opposed to street-smart, she also tends to be a tad socially awkward, not always sure how well she fits in with her friends, but she is still a solid friend when it comes down to it and would be there to help any of them with their problems.
Even though Leila is talented, she's the total opposite of a showoff, shying away from bragging or even talking about her talents. She doesn't want the world to think she is a braggart, after all. She is quite humble and modest, but she's also looking for acceptance and praise for her talents. Leila does try to put in as much of an effort learning as possible though, so her knowledge will someday come in handy. Because of this, she may sometimes be skeptical of things that she doesn't have any proof of. Leila works hard and diligently, because she knows that it is what's expected of her and wants to meet those requirements. Of course, Leila still has a few faults. She is a HUGE neat-freak, meaning that she tries to make everything organized and tends to scold others when they are not so organized. As a result of her obsessive desire organize whatever she can, Leila tends to go a bit far and ends up getting in trouble for it, annoying or even hurting someone.

HISTORY
Leila is a muggle-born, meaning that she never knew about the magic side of her father's family. Her father may have been a muggle, but he had known about his siblings' statuses as wizards and witches because of the letter that had arrived for them from Hogwarts. This also made him a squib, although her father never felt bothered by it. Of course, her father hadn't told her about it since it would definitely be a hard thing to believe. Leila was always a big science-geek, meaning that she always thought that something happened because of something else happening. Everything had a scientific cause, and so the thought of magic would most likely be preposterous to her. Unfortunately for her father, Leila had inherited his curiosity and intelligence, being able to know when someone was hiding something. Her father would never talk about his side of the family and never had any pictures of them around; this was the first thing that Leila noticed. It sparked her curiosity as to why her father would actually hide his family, and so she decided to do a bit of digging before approaching him directly. Leila would look through her father's things whenever she got the chance, trying to find the numbers of his family's telephones and such. When she finally managed to call one of her father's sisters, she realized that there was more to the eye than it seemed.
She found out about her father's magical family and decided to approach him at last. She looked him in the eye and asked why he had kept his magical family a secret. Her father replied rather simply; he answered her question with a frown, saying that he was afraid Leila would not believe him. Leila just shook her head at this and told him that this would have opened up new possibilities for her. If magic was real, then she could try and research it to see if there was some sort of scientific explanation. She always kept her eyes open in case a letter from Hogwarts arrived. And come it did. It arrived only a few days after her 11th birthday, making her pack as soon as possible and send an owl back urgently saying that she would definitely attend. When Leila first arrived at Hogwarts, she had a difficult time fitting in because many of the other students would not speak to her since she kept trying to find out the scientific explanation of magic. Leila would always question the teacher and ask, if the professor was demonstrating a spell, how the spell was possible and what the logic was behind it. This usually caused her to get detentions since the professors took her questions the wrong way. They had thought she was being 'fresh' with them.
Of course, the detentions always gave Leila time to get to know her professors as well as learn a bit more about magic and how it was not a science. This helped Leila as she began to slowly understand that there was nothing scientific about magic. Throughout the years that Leila went to Hogwarts, she learned much about magic and her opinion eventually began to change. Magic was a delicate and difficult art that would most likely never be explained completely. As a result, she decided that instead of becoming a researcher, she would become a professor at Hogwarts. Because Leila was always interested in alchemy, she decided to apply as the alchemy professor.

Ruby noticed that Viona was a Gryffindor like herself and seemed very happy. "Oh! Are you a Gryffindor, too? That's wonderful! We'll see each other at the dormitories, then! Though, I find it a bit odd that I haven't even seen you before. Maybe we passed by each other but never noticed?" Ruby's British accent was beginning to show a bit.
Then, she beamed when she heard Viona start rambling on about Margo Mindlepop and seemed to enjoy it. "Glad to know that you love her books so much. A lot of my neighbors think that her books aren't worth reading. Hmph... Whenever I hear someone speak about her books like they're rubbish, I usually start ranting bloody hell." Ruby looked rather frustrated and angry when she was talking about her rude neighbors. Obviously the girl truly enjoyed Mindlepop's work. Her face was lightly touched with a red tint, showing how she was beginning to grow angry. Then, her face seemed to relax and she no longer looked very angry.
"Never mind that now; it's your turn to get Margo Mindlepop's autograph!" she said with a happy smile. Ruby pointed at the distance between the table Mindlepop was sitting at and Viona. She stifled a laugh as the distance was rather large. The others seemed to have been gone a while; having gotten their autographs and been satisfied.
