HAIR&EYES Alanna's hair is more of a red hue than her mother's and is long, reaching about to her shoulder blades. However, she tends to keep it up in a ponytail or in her braided pigtails most of the time as it keeps her hair more tame.  Her blue eyes are always bright.

PERSONALITY Alanna is primarily a tomboy.  She prefers to be outside running around with her friends (who tend to be boys more than girls) to sitting inside and just playing games and whatnot.  Never afraid to get dirty, Alanna is the type to even tackle people much bigger than herself while playing sports.  She would rather spend her time with "her boys" than be inside completing her studies.  She rarely skips classes, but if she was given the option to play games instead, she would quickly decide to do that.

Alanna has a very soft side as well.  She adores all sorts of animals and plants and will go out of her way to help them if they are hurt or need to be taken care of.  She excels in Herbology and is very excited to be starting her Care of Magical Creatures course this year.  Because of her love of animals, she refuses to eat meat, which tends to make her friends make fun of her at times.  Of course, another thing that she gets teased about is her stutter.  She tries really hard to hide it, but unless she is very close to a person, or talking to a plant or animal, the stutter is constantly present.

As for bravery, Alanna is very brave.  She will do anything it takes to protect an animal, even speaking rudely to professors who get in her way.  She will sneak out of the castle late at night to check on the creatures she cares about, not caring about the possibility that she would get caught.  She is also not afraid to stand up to bullies.  Even if they tend to make her stutter worse, Alanna isn't afraid to protect her friends or even herself, whether through yelling at them, or even, in extreme cases, sending a punch in their direction.

She is absolutely terrified of thunder and lightning.  When the weather takes that sort of a turn, she falls apart.  Though Alanna is generally very brave, she will hide in the nearest closet or underneath things to escape her fear.  She has been very careful about hiding this fear from her peers, so few people actually know about it at all.

HISTORY Alanna was born a few years after her older brother in Rio de Janeiro.  It was pretty quickly realized that she took more after her mother's Irish heritage than her father's Brazilian one.  Even from infancy, she was a fairly brave child, crawling off into places that most children would have avoided.  She scared her mother on more than one occasion by bringing snakes and other reptiles into the house at a young age.  It was obvious that little Alanna Yaritza was an animal lover right from the start.

She got along well with her older brother, though he did play pranks on her often.  Being a brave young soul, pranks that involved scaring her did not work as much as he would have hoped.  When Alanna started to speak, it was realized that she had a stutter, one that just did not go away as she grew up.  She tried really hard to grow out of it, but nothing worked.  After her little brother was born, the family realized that Alanna's stutter only vanished when talking to plants and animals, and encouraged the practice, hoping it would continue on into other aspects of her speaking.  So far, no progress has really been made, but she still works on it.

Alanna was not surprised by the letter to Hogwarts.  In fact, she was very excited.  She had already been pretending she was going for the three years that it was only her brother heading to the school.  She just could not wait!  During her time at Hogwarts, she was quite talented in Herbology.  She also made a lot of friends, mainly boys, who she could play sports with in her free time.
