BOGGART He or his family being caught by death eaters... or, you know, facing most things Lockhart did. When he really thinks about it, the memory of his second year makes him feel faint.
MIRROR OF ERISED To be strong and brave, like Harry Potter.
PATRONUS Penguin! They are extremely social animals, and Justin is also. Flightless, they seem unable to achieve many things that other birds can... But they have strengths in other areas.
PERSONALITY Justin is very outgoing and friendly with classmates, though primarily Hufflepuff and Gryffindor students. He is easily influenced by people around him and incredibly naive, believing many things that he hears prematurely. Despite being from a wealthy muggle family Justin is not as arrogant as one would expect. He is loyal to people that he considers his friends and isn't afraid to admit when he is wrong. Justin Finch-Fletchley is far from brave, but perhaps with guidance he could manage his fears. Because of his friendly nature he is particularly well-matched with friends that don't like to do the talking. He even helps new Hufflepuff students adjust, though this could easily get on the nerves of some people.
He could be taken advantage of rather easily by people who are posing as friends, both because of his loyalty and the fact that he is very gullible. However he is smart enough not to let people continue treating him that way once he does somehow realize it. He has had little to no romantic experience and would likely stumble with words for once. He could impress with his wealth if he wanted to, though if he even thinks of it he doesn't see that as an incredible advantage in the wizarding world. It seems obvious that Justin wants to better himself by being less of a coward. He was involved in the dueling club in his second year, though some might speculate it was only because he is a fan of Lockhart. His doubts rather than intelligence tend to hold him back more than anything else. He can sometimes be petty but when he sees reason he will apologize for his mistakes, as with what happened with Harry in their second and fourth years.

Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort.

HISTORY Justin led a fairly normal life up until he was eleven. As normal as it can get in a wealthy muggle family, that is. Both parents were from long lines of influential families, and his father was in charge of the family business. Although his parents did have a lot of money, he was taught humility, and even then didn't really judge people on their monetary status. This did get him friends, but it felt as though something was still missing. He did not experience things so obvious to suggest his magical abilities as many who attend Hogwarts. Justin's parents were set to send him to Eton, a prestigious muggle public school in England, when he received his Hogwarts letter. To his mother's disappointment he attended Hogwarts instead and was sorted into Hufflepuff house.
His first year was fairly uneventful, though he made friends with some of his fellow Hufflepuffs. Over the summer before his second year Justin gave Lockhart's books to his mother, which convinced her that going to Hogwarts was in fact a good thing. Justin himself deeply admired Lockhart, because he was able to do things that Justin himself imagined that he never could due to being afraid. He truly believed the stories that Lockhart had stolen from other witches and wizards and looked up to him. When the rumor got out that Harry Potter was the heir of Slytherin he ran away from him on sight despite the fact that they had gotten on well earlier in the year. During dueling club Justin believed that Harry was trying to get the snake to attack him when in reality Harry was using parseltongue to attempt to get the snake to leave him alone.
He was afraid that something bad would happen to him because he was a muggle-born. These fears were not for nothing since soon Justin and Nearly Headless Nick were petrified by the baselisk from the Chamber of Secrets. It is probably a good thing that Justin is the way that he is - some kids would have been traumatized by this, but Justin's simple nature allowed him to get over it sooner than most - even though he did of course suffer some mental distress over it. Justin realized upon leaving the hospital wing that Harry was not the heir of Slytherin and immediately set to making things right with him. His third year was mercifully uneventful, and as he didn't really know what went on regarding Sirius Black and company, it appeared a very ordinary year in comparison to the last two. The fourth year was all around stressful to him due to the Triwizard Tournament (watching can be tough too!) and some issues with Harry Potter - and he didn't quite manage to get a date to the Yule Ball.
In his fifth year, Justin joined Dumbledore's Army and learned how better to protect himself. It was with Harry's guidance that Justin overcame his insecurities enough to be a successful duelist. He has not had the chance to prove it since the end of the last year, but he is somewhat more confident even with the 'club' disbanded.

Justin gave Keru a little smile, feeling slightly more at ease with her because she was smiling now too. “Well, my family is pretty highly regarded,” he said, as though that explained why he had two last names. It actually did, when you know about muggle ‘nobility’. He thought it was interesting that she was named Keru. He hadn’t met anyone else with that name… then again, until he went to Hogwarts he hadn’t known anyone named Minerva, Severus, or Hermione, either. His double-barreled last name didn’t mean that much in a place like this, though it probably still stood out if she mentioned it.
He looked horrified when she suggested that he might want to disarm her or… bind her to a tree? “What in the world are you talking about?” he asked with wide eyes. “ I wouldn’t do something like that. Unless it was, you know, in self d-“ But he turned when he heard someone’s voice. They sounded like they were casting a spell. Wingardium Leviosa? “Who is out there?” he asked, moving a bit closer to Keru. He imagined again the things he had almost forgotten; the centaurs, the ghosts, werewolves, anything else that might lurk in the forest.
But it was only another student, he told himself. And another! A different voice greeted her hello. He hoped that neither of them were enemies, but… He focused on the one that spoke directly to them for now. “Oh, uhm… hello? What are you doing with your wand out?” he asked, dreading what the answer might be.
