HAIR&EYES Well the hair has a tendency towards waves and not staying combed straight. It has always been a blond in color (though it will be going more dirty blond by graduation), the kind his mother and every other girl likes to straighten. When it gets too long it starts curling like crazy so he keeps it short. His eyes are a very soft blue in color, but come across a bit sharp, intense in whatever he is interested in at the moment. Sometimes people mistake that for a darker blue coloration, but his eyes do not change color, people's perceptions change.
HEIGHT&WEIGHT Mike has for a teenage boy a staggering height already having topped 6'0" and still growing (though he is past the growth spurt time he will only gain a few more inches by his 20s). While his father was known for being tall, it's unknown where this height comes from being that his family is so unknown. Because of his farm work, his weight is a very healthy 180, almost all of it muscle from hard work.

PERSONALITY
His mother Annabell was able to manage both farm and daughters because of her oldest. A patient boy, he felt as the only male around that he had to step into the role of the man of the house. Slowly as he got older he worked on more and more tasks around the farm, trying to help out his mom and given pointers by men up the road who wanted to help the family out. If his father had been around, it would be doubtful he would have turned out as good a kid nor his sisters as pleasant as they did. Raised by their mom, Taran got used to hard work early on and he grew to dislike his father more and more for his perceived laziness, the absent one who had deserted them all. This meant he fought against his natural wanderlust, staying where he was by promising himself one day he would have the money to travel and make sure his family was taken care of first.
He would not be a deserter. A man's place is with his family first.
Taranis has picked up some traits of his father's, though his mother has tried not to make him aware of them being compared to the man. From half-truths and false perceptions which come naturally to his lips and a full on wanderlust, not wanting to be tied down to any place, she is reminded every time she looks at him. With a healthy belief in luck, good and bad, plus his father's ego about his own abilities & looks his confidence helps him do many things other think would not yet be in his grasp. His sisters have the half-truth and luck belief as well, though they don't share the nasty attitude and manipulative nature of so many Slytherins. Instead they have the love of their own looks, pride, and clever wits so he doesn't see the Snake house as all bad like so many others do. In fact a certain attraction to bad girls gets him in some trouble sometimes, but he simply doesn't see the Slytherins as all bad.
Don't take him wrong; their are parts of him much like a con-artist in nature, hiding his real purpose to put his best face forward to convince people to like him and want to be around him, but he is more his mother's son. He doesn't try to be deceptive, but more honest to his friends in particular. Despite his muscled frame, he is not a fighter nor a scuffler; it's from long hours and hard work on the farm doing what needs to be done. He has never been afraid to take on new things, in magic as well as he has become quite good at working with magic items and enchantments. Charms is probably his best class. If a friend is in trouble, however, he will skip his own needs to put them first, even as he does for his own family. Those he holds close to his heart he will always sacrifice for going out of his way. Some day he hopes to earn in his own mind the freedom to be able to give in to his wandering feet and sail off to explore the world in his own way.- - - - -

They know nothing about his father's side of the family, there may be many more.
*Gilderoy has done such a good job of hiding his origins, it's pretty much lost in the faked records, mislaid paperwork, and memories erased over the years. One wonders why he went to such an effort to hide his background, but here is the unfindable truth just for the Admin's knowledge. Lockhart was born in Ireland, but there were so many blood-ties even he would not know of this connection. There is no known family tie, but there is a genetic marker connected with the Summerby's, quite a bit back though. This means at some point in the past, the Lockharts and the Summerbys had family connections, but nothing recent. Taran's similar looks are just a genetic throwback of chance.
HISTORY
Taran was always a big kid. As a toddler he grew like crazy, rapidly growing out of clothes. He followed his father around until his youngest sister was born, hanging around her more and playing with her to give his mother a often needed break. His father left right after the conceiving of his youngest sister and little Taran insisted on helping his mother more directly, something she could not refuse. The family struggled badly after that and for several years it seemed the family line would most definitely die out right there, but somehow they made it through some rough lean years with the help of others up the road. By the time Hogwarts sent the letter to their doorstep, Taran was rapidly becoming a most important cog in the family's survival having filled his father's responsibilities. Fortunately most of the field work had to be done during the summer with harvest in the fall, something she managed to hire a neighbor to help them out with. On school breaks he worked even harder, developing a wiry strength early on from field and barn work.
Though pure blood, they live in a muggle-heavy area originally as concealment, but now with their survival having been due to nearby muggles they can no longer justify in their minds the isolation from muggle society. Annabell still wants her children to marry pure for the best possible genetics, but she has determined marrying outside of the UK would be the best for the family. She has always stressed this with her children tyeing it into the idea of saving the family name. On their own, the three children see the family troubles as not their fault being dropped in a terrible spot by their father. Getting ahead means helping each other; all they now want is their fair share of some success. As a poor family with good bloodlines, it's hard to feel you compare to the older richer families.
In school he proved to be adept at charms, picking up the working with items easily and he had an interest for astronomy as well. The last few years have shown a talent for divination, though mostly from Aeromancy which he is fairly good at. Not that the current Divinations teacher is very good at it herself; she just assigned him some books to read and he has stumbled through the rest of it on his own. Odd that a boy named for the Celtic god of storms would prove to be really good at atmospheric divination... DADA and Potions, however, are some of his worst subjects (Who knew you could melt a hole through both table and flagstone flooring so quickly?). Taran has dated a few girls, mostly from outside his own house, but nothing longer then a few months before they separated. He hasn't found any kind of girl he wanted to spend long amounts of time with yet, though several have been making plays for him recently. He's smart enough to recognize that as trouble, fortunately. They don't really show themselves as interested in him for who he is. And if he dates someone, he wants it to be someone he thinks really likes him for who he is.
His looks and manners also became an issue during his fourth year when Lockhart taught at Hogwarts and people started asking him if he was Lockhart's son. Being he was so bad at the subject to begin with he found himself more then a little embarrassed and the teasing (though good natured usually) drove him up the wall. Mostly because he can see a bit too much of his father in Lockhart; the wandering, conning nature which trapped his mother and ruined their lives. For a short time he even feared his father might be truly Lockhart till he found proof of his father being in another country in the Daily Prophet one day. That was a great relief! Now in his sixth year, Taran wonders if he will find anyone worth his time before school is up and whether or not he might ever get to play seeker for the house team, something he is pretty decent at despite his size. It's odd to have a seeker his size, but somehow he's quite quick and flexible on a broom, able to dodge through a Quidditch match with a grace not seen on the ground, though he is not the fastest, just the most manuverable. A wizard down in Hogsmeade who does a lot of fishing along the banks by boat has given him some lessons in boating & fishing by permission from one of the Professors on some weekends. This keeps his free time rather occupied, but every skill learned will help in the future, right?
As a measure of his skills, this is what his current grading scale looks like. He was delighted to be able to drop DADA and Potions last year making his classes much easier to handle.

RP EXPERIENCE? I have played four characters on here in the past including Voldemort and the Astronomy Professor. Unfortunately work and a move made me have to cut out online activities since March and I'm only now able to get back a little. Before that, nearly twenty years of RPGs.

Taran hovered in the air far above the game going on below his broom, removed from it and hovering, his robes turned so as to catch the sunlight which made him stand out in the sky like some over large colorful bird. He was bent over his broom looking down, much like his competition who was below him about a hundred feet also looking over at the stadium. He shifted uncomfortably, worried about this particular game. He needed a score, he really needed it since he had missed out last time the main seeker had been injured and unable to play. He'd been scoring well in practices but having a rough time during the games so much so he hoped this overview would help more. He could see the game below him going furiously, players whipping back and forth like crazy. It was a pretty day and he had to resist the urge to go for a fly away, keeping his focus on what was below him. Suddenly he saw movement and a bludger got past the beaters and shot up towards the two seekers, the lower one lazily sliding out of it's way and Taran tilted his broom to move out of it's way and over compensated.
He knew the mistake in an instant and berated himself inside for doing it; he was a far better flier then to make such a amateur move and he knew it. However as he dove past the bludger he heard it start a turn and cursed, knowing it was focusing on him and he wanted to head down to get rid of it on the beaters. So, he dove, glancing over his shoulder and seeing it coming up fast. He turned his attention to what he was doing and did an immediate roll turning into a dodge, rapid turn, and a dart between it seemed every player on the field as he barely managed to avoid six separate collisions and ended up sliding sideways on his broom to a stop from slamming into the side of the stands. While for him it had been a total accident and a wish to avoid ramming through others, to everyone on the field it had looked like a truly spectacular set of flying tricks. In addition to that where he ended up he looked up and saw a flash of gold practically crossing his broom as he watched, wide-eyed.
Unable to believe his luck, he reached out and grabbed it, surprised when it worked, like it should be a trick of some kind that he was falling for. To the audience, stunned into shocked silence at the sudden end to the game within five minutes of the start, it looked like the entire maneuver was made just to intercept the snitch which was far better flying then they had seen in a while. The stands erupted into a roar as the house came pouring down onto the field as Taran's captain landed in front of him still surprised but pleased. They had been expected to lose this game and truthfully they were down already by 10 points in those five first minutes so it was a mixed reaction but he still grabbed Mike's hand as he said "Excellent, Summerby, Excellent! Early, but way to go!" It was with belated thinking that he realized he had just made himself the center of attention, not what he wanted in any way. He smiled crookedly, realizing he needed a good game face to not look disappointed at how this had turned out for him and nodded his head instead of words as the crowd descended on him and made conversation impossible.
Not bad for a bench player, but the reason he didn't want this much attention was that the girls who had been after him for his looks would only turn up the heat more, expecting him to move up in the team and thus enhance their own social standing. Taran hated people like that, who believed school social status counted as anything to be courted. He wanted to find someone who liked him for himself, not his pretty face or the hair all the girls couldn't keep their hands off of. Unfortunately most of the richer purebloods with girls at Hogwarts fell into that category and those would be his best bet for his family's future. He kept smiling and nodding as people congratulated him on his flying, but it wasn't till his sister Airmid gave him a hug and whispered in his ear "Nice job, Taranus! Now be sensible and date one of the fools, for your family's sake." that he scowled at her even as he hugged her back. "You wish. Be a doll and shield me off the field at least," slipping his arm around her in a brotherly hug which she went along with, hoping to push him at the first rich girl she could....
