board rules ! MUST READ.

First off, we would like to welcome you to I Solemnly Swear.
Before you get started in your role-playing, we'd like you to keep a few things in mind.

application & face claim rules

• Firstly, you must REGISTER. After you register, you will be able to view the entire board, as well as post your application.
  
  
• to fill out a student application, go to the sorting hat (go here to fill out an adult application.)
  
  
• Professors MUST be the canon from the books. The only exception would be if there is not a clearly defined professor for that certain position. Otherwise, we will only accept Severus Snape as the potions professor, ect.
  
  
• THIS IS A NOTE TO ANYONE APPLYING TO BE A CANON ! if your character becomes inactive for two(2) months or longer, and you have not posted your absence in the absences section, you will be stripped of your cannon! No questions asked, canons MUST be active. This is your only warning
  
  
• be aware of what year our site is currently in. for example, if harry is in his fourth year, clearly tonks and lupin's child will not exist yet. so no, we will not accept their future child.
  
  
• we'd prefer that you not try to make original characters be related to canon characters.
  
  
• please DO NOT post until you have been accepted and sorted into a house. if you aren't accepted right away, please check your PM's or application post for comments or instructions regarding your application.
  
  
• once your application is accepted, you must post in our face claim and member index threads IN CODE. you will find our list of celebrities and such that are already being used on the site.
  
  
• Keep in mind, first to post a face claim, is the first to claim the face! Just because you use a certain face in your app, doesn't necessarily mean you can keep it. If you see that someone has already reserved that face in the claim, it means THEY have ownership of the face, so you will be responsible for changing yours. Remember, you can reserve a face for up to three(3) days, so if you know you definitely want to be ex: Ryan Reynolds, reserve his face while you are completing the application, that way nobody can swoop in and claim him! Once your reserve is up, you either need to re-reserve if you're still working on the app, or if your app has been accepted, you'll need to post the actual claim. A RESERVE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CLAIM THE FACE, IT RESERVES IT WHILE YOU'RE WORKING ON THE APP!
  
  
• you must have a signature. this is a picture of your character. it MUST fit the board, and not stretch it. which means it CANNOT EXCEED 450 in width. if it does, we will message you with a warning and a maximum of three (3) days to get it fixed. if you fail to do so, we will take it down ourselves.
  
  
• if you're playing a canon character, you must use their original actor/actress from the movies. no exceptions.
  
  
• if you're playing a canon character, and you are not role playing as the character would, or doing something your character wouldn't, (ex; hermione casting spells at muggles for fun) then you will be stripped of your privileges to play such canon. no exceptions, no argument, and no second chances.
  

role playing & general rules

• please make your posts at least a paragraph ( a FULL three to four sentences ), or about 100 words long. No, we won't check every post, and if we see something shorter, no, you won't be in trouble. A longer post just helps create a better storyline and makes it easier for others to respond.
  
  
• use correct grammar, and spelling. there is a spell check on here, as well as in a word document. utilize it. bad grammar makes for sloppy posts.
  
  
• you may role play more than one character. you have to go through the application process for each of them, and make separate accounts. you may have no more than three (3) characters unless you have special permission from ALL moderators OR admin.
  
  
• All role playing should be done in third person. No first person role playing.
  
  
• no posting in the common room of a house you do not belong to. if we see that you have you will be warned. we will not tolerate this from anybody. the code word is goofy goobers.
  
  
• there will be no inappropriate sex threads on our board. remember that we DO have younger role players here. all mature content needs to be taken to a PM (personal message). thank you.
  
  
• absolutely NO GOD MOD - ing! unsure of what this is? let an admin know and we'll explain it to you.
  
  
• your character is not smarter than any professor, so don't act like it.
  
  
• professors should not bicker, argue, or make rude remarks to or about each other in the presence of students.
  
  
• suicide is NOT permitted. this includes cutting. it's unnecessary. you do not need to kill off your character if you aren't happy with them anymore. simply leave off in a thread as if they were changing schools or going away and never coming back.
  
  
• no muggle products, such as ipods, cell phones, ect. are to be used anywhere in this board, even if your character is a muggle.
  
  
• none of this "slytherin queen, hufflepuff prince" etc, rubbish. it's childish and untrue. give yourself a label, just keep it out of your member profile, nobody else wants to see it. you can't just self proclaim yourself as such.
  
  
• under no circumstances should death eaters be parading around hogwarts grounds. unless of course, it's the appropriate time in our school year.
  
  
• no talking about threads that your character wasn't involved in. if a thread is private, it's just that. your character wasn't there, wasn't invited, and shouldn't have any idea of what went on in that thread.
