PATRONUS The Wren - although Ainsley is not one to go to the extremes in most cases, he veers from doing the traditional just because it is what is 'meant' to be followed. He takes his part of any burden so that others don't have to carry it all on their own, and while he may seem to be only a light-hearted prankster, he takes his bonds with people seriously. And can seem to jump between subjects a lot, which is like the wren's migratory ways.
PERSONALITY Ainsley hasn't changed much, though he did go through a period of solitude following his divorce. He is still friendly to most people, and quick to flirt, even if the target of his advances would never reciprocate (lesbians, straight guys, people who are taken). It is something that is not usually done in seriousness. There have been a few people that he has regretted not getting serious with, but that's another subject entirely. He still acts as though nothing in the world could ever bother him, because he finds that pretending he is alright helps him a lot to get to where he feels alright.
He is usually playful and one to make a cheap joke. Even when he is dealing with a dangerous situation, and work, he tries to remain casual. It's usually to make the people that he's with feel more calm. If they're finding him annoying and getting pissed off, at least they aren't afraid. He is pretty good at reading people because a lot of the time, he's using humor to mask something else... And it's easier to identify a defense mechanism when you use it, too.
He tries to protect Sean and Jaime while at the same time leaving them plenty of room to make mistakes. He believes that people have to make mistakes in order to grow, and so he doesn't really judge them on things that they do. However, if someone is just being stupid and knows the consequences, Ainsley might step in and give them a reality check. He's never sure that he did the right thing, but knows that looking back is just about the worst thing that he can do.
Ainsley has never been good at accepting praise, or knowing his own worth. It was always a source of embarrassment for him when someone would point out something that he was good at, even though he didn't seem to mind when people would bring up the negatives. He had accepted those long ago. As an adult, Ainsley still doesn't take compliments well. It's worse than it was before because his ego has been damaged by someone that was supposed to love him. Equally awkward is trying to be sincere when talking about feelings. It was never the easiest thing for him.

Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort.

OTHER N/A.
HISTORY Born to a muggle mother and a wizard father. His father had attended Hogwarts as a Ravenclaw but found the muggle world much more fascinating than the wizard one, which is why he chose to settle down there away from his pureblooded family and marry Kadence. They were very young parents in jobs that hardly took care of them alone so having two children, they were always strapped for money. The children were required to make their own fun.
Ainsley was a mischievous child who caused trouble mostly to his neighbors with his own gang of friends. But he was also a nice boy and the pranks were never dangerous or too cruel, so he was always forgiven. His sister was the polar opposite of him – antisocial, awkward, and prone to shutting herself in her room. Still they did maintain a good relationship up until they both went to Hogwarts.
They went on the train together on Ainsley's first year, and she supported him throughout the sorting. But Alise had been sorted into Slytherin, the rival house, the year before. Only because of Alise did Ainsley rethink his tendency to immediately assume that all Slytherins were bad news. Before long the house rivalries did distance them from each other and Alise even avoided Ainsley over the summers. Though there was this family problem Ainsley had always gotten along with his parents, and still does to this day.
Ainsley enjoyed putting on magic shows at Hogwarts, where those of the wizarding world would try to figure out what spells he was using. None! As he was using muggle magic tricks... Once he was seventeen and could use magic outside of school he did the opposite, putting on magic shows that used real magic and laughing at the reactions of the muggles.
His last year in school, things got complicated. He found himself confused on love, not sure if the girl that he had his eyes on even wanted to be with him (as he found that she was spending a lot of time with another guy), and rethinking himself a friendship with a girl that had always been there for him. All of his relationship troubles, though, paled in comparison to the drama in the wizarding world at large.
Hogwarts was taken over by the Death Eaters. Ainsley had trouble keeping his opinion to himself, and he was quite often punished for it. And there had been no doubt in his mind that he was going to fight with all that he had in him. They won the battle but Ainsley wasn't there to see it, owing to the fact that he had almost been killed by a werewolf. He had a terrible wound that took forever to heal. As he stayed in that hospital bed fighting sleep, the rest of the world went on. He had one frequent visitor by his bed; Jamie Ramsey, a girl that he had dated for a few weeks off and on during that school year.
He entered into a relationship with Jamie shortly after leaving the hospital and learning about her pregnancy. He did find her charming, but he was often in thought about the war and everything else that tore at his heart. She felt like she could help him, in ways beyond the physical healing. Before he knew it, they were saying their vows. He didn't feel at the time like this was a mistake, as he cared for her and wanted to take care of her and the baby. He wasn't one to run from his responsibilities. To say that he was scared, though, was an understatement. It took him a good long time to be able to say the words that would bind them... And whatever future he had hoped for was taken from him.
While he had doubts about his life in general, fatherhood was something that came oddly naturally to Ainsley. He didn't mind the diapers, and he loved the laughs and the smiles. A year after the wedding, their second son was born. With Jaime and Sean, they almost felt like a real family. Unfortunately, that wasn't to last.
Jamie was great with the boys, but she had the tendency to get angry with Ainsley over small things. Even when he tried to do everything he thought she wanted, Ainsley ended up getting blamed for all the downs in their lives. They both hid the problems from the boys with success for the most part, but just before Sean entered school, a fight changed all that. Behind closed doors, Jamie had, not for the first time, hit Ainsley in a rage. Though she was horrified and apologized, Ainsley didn't want to stay there anymore. Her mood changes left him in a constant state of anxiety. He didn't feel or even look like himself. He knew he needed to get away while the boys were off at school.
He ended the marriage and lived in the shop that he worked from in Diagon Alley.
Ainsley hadn't expected to do anything special with his life, but when a strange customer came in and spoke of his own profession, he decided it was as good a time as any to change. Ainsley had always been a pretty good duelist, and Defense Against the Dark Arts had really proven useful in that last year (when the class was instead Dark Arts). He decided to follow in the customer's footsteps and hunt creatures for the Ministry. Something like being a cop, but for those particular special cases.
His sons now live with their mother over the summers (something which he fought against, not knowing if she had ever raised her hand against them), and with him over the winter break. He doesn't feel like he ever gets to see them. Not to mention, their mother is so well-off financially that he can't really compete. It was why she won the greater custody. His job as a 'hunter' is not known to his sons, who think that he is still just a regular salesman. At this point, he doesn't want to encourage some bad behavior...
