BOGGART Being told by the people that she cares about that they find her to be a nuisance. That and failure on a large scale.
MIRROR OF ERISED to live in the wizarding world full-time.
PATRONUS The wolf. What bonds she has, with both friends and family, tend to be very strong because she does not get close to people as easily as others do. Her 'wolf pack'. She hates fighting, particularly when it is among those people, but she will also avoid it in her own life where she can. Her ability to learn new things and remember even little details is also common to the wolf.
PERSONALITY Intelligent, as one would expect a Ravenclaw to be. Although she does read a lot, much of her knowledge comes not from books but from viewing the world around her. She took comfort in shutting out the world when she was a child, though as she grew older she realized that the best way to make it through life was knowing what the world had in store, not hiding from it. She doesn't regularly talk to very many people. She has gotten better at not letting her shyness hold her back from meeting new people. Each person that she talks to encourages her a bit more toward being social, and letting herself be known for who she is.
She has been taught the way to act in polite company but not really around people her own age. She is more accepting of others than a lot of people because she has seen some of the best and the worst in her own family members and doesn't want to hold strangers to a different standard. Being among high society has also taught her that what a family is like can severely affect the way that people see the world. Hence the words that have nearly become a slogan to her - "They were just raised that way." To her, circumstance does not determine who a person really is, only what they have become. She tries to at least grasp the way that others see the world in hopes of bettering herself. She wants to take care of people that she cares about but isn't always confident in doing so. She's a better friend than she realizes most of the time. She takes things that friends and family say perhaps too personally, and will resort to avoidance or the silent treatment rather than speaking to them about what is bothering her.
In romance… well, she hasn’t really done a lot of that, and is too distracted by other things to worry about it. However she has a strong tendency to fall for friends because she notices them before she even realizes that she is looking for something more than friendship.

Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort.

HISTORY Shalie had a fairly ordinary childhood. She was raised by wealthy businessman Koba Matsuoka and his wife Kimeko. Since she was a witch and he was a muggle, she had a healthy dose of both worlds in her life. She lived mostly among muggles, but from time to time, her mother would take her to Hogsmeade while Koba was in other countries on business. While he was at home he tended to be busy anyway, and though Shalie loved him as much as she did her mother, she thought that he was a bit too work-obsessed. In his absence she adopted her mother's traits, including a kind-hearted interest in others and acceptance of people who weren't like she was. And, to her great disappointment, a lot of her early years she had to attend parties her father threw for his high society friends. All in all, things were, as stated, quite ordinary... until she was ten.
Her mother went missing quite unexpectedly, and it didn't take long for her father to assume that she was gone forever. He knew that his wife was a witch, and thought she must either have died because of her association to that world or gone to be a part of it again. And so, he handled it the only way that he could. Through a drinking habit. Shalie felt odd about the whole affair, and though she was sad not to have her mother around, she just went back to her books and quiet interests.
The same year Shalie received her letter to Hogwarts. She was excited to have the chance to go to the school that her mother attended, and argued with her father until he allowed her to go. He had always had a lack of trust for the world, and that had increased greatly once his wife was gone. But eventually, he agreed to it, and she began to count down the days until she would be a part of that world. Like most witch and wizard children raised in the muggle world, she'd always thought that she was out of place, and this was a chance to finally belong somewhere.
Instead, as these stories usually go, that’s when she was brought from her comfort zone.
She had spent much of her time with older people when she was younger, and she hadn’t had many friends her own age to play with. So when she was at school, she was completely at a loss. She tended to read the familiar books that she’d brought from home and practice spells on her own. She was delighted to be able to do magic, after all, and making friends didn’t come as easily to her as it did other people.
By her fourth year she finally began to open up, simply because being on her own didn’t hold the same charm that it used to, and she’d gained a few friends on accident. In her fifth year, she became a bit more outspoken about her thoughts because her surroundings demanded it of her, she didn't want to be Umbridge's 'prisoner'. She is more comfortable being herself, though in certain situations she still defaults back into her shell.

Shalie's face went a deep shade of red. She hated how easily she could be embarrassed, especially when it came to boys teasing her. And she was sure that was what happened here. She didn't know whether to be awkwardly flattered or honestly offended that he would talk to her that way. She didn't know which was the proper response in a situation like this, but that was what happened when you kept yourself sheltered five years in a school where everyone knew each other. “Uhm, thanks?” she offered, immediately wishing she had just kept quiet.
She actually believed that he meant studying together, so she smiled. It was back on a more comfortable level now. “Are you the study in the common room type or are you inspired by the great outdoors?” she asked in the same teasing tone. Why in the world did she find it easy to talk this way at others then freeze up when they spoke to her in the same way? She had a playful look on her face that looked more natural than her awkward one, surprisingly.
She sighed when she heard Umbridge clearing her throat. She thought of the feast when she had done the same and knew without a doubt that a simple clearing of the throat would become very annoying very early in the year. She tried to pay attention but Umbridge didn't have the same natural... charisma? That Snape had. She started to copy down the course aims without paying much attention to what they actually said.
