LIKES Reading :: She hardly even stops reading while she's walking, which has led to some awkward experiences.
Music :: especially violin and vocals, which she practices.
Fashion :: Even though she's a bookworm, she's very conscious about her appearance.
Romance :: The rare times that she can find herself swept from the everyday world are the highlights for her.
Cooking :: She insists on cooking dinner rather often when at home, specializing in Mexican and Italian foods.
Animals :: She has a pet snake named Alastair, and doesn't discriminate in her love for other types of animals.
Wine :: It's classy, it tastes good, it can get one drunk. She usually doesn't drink enough for that, though.
DISLIKES
Insects :: Her little sister adores them. All Shyrise wants to do is feed them to her snake.
Immaturity :: Fart jokes and prejudices are below her. She'll just ignore you completely if you go about either.
Bullying :: Particularly when they pick on her siblings. She's scary when she's confrontational, mostly because people rarely see it coming.
Children :: Not all, but the standard destructive ones.
Blind Dates :: She generally ends up with a dud, which is unfortunate since she thought being into men and women both would increase her chances of finding love.
Unnecessary Dangers :: She likes the occasional thrill seek, but people who do it all the time are morons.
Being Interrupted :: Especially during an argument. She will often just walk away if both sides aren't getting equal time.
BOGGART Failure. Specifically, being an elderly woman with more regrets than accomplishments.
MIRROR OF ERISED She wants to become a violinist who spans both the muggle and the wizarding worlds.
PATRONUS A deer. They are graceful and beautiful, but are easily frightened away.
PERSONALITY Shyrise is more complicated than most people guess. She is studious, as expected of a Ravenclaw, and also thought of as vain and self-centered because of her tendency to dress well and to spend more time alone than with others. She is honestly just concerned about her future and views school for what it is, and not for socializing. And she likes to delve into many varying hobbies. Some people think that she is a natural at playing violin, for instance, but she has been playing it for as long as she can remember. Skills are necessary to a good future and she doesn't mind spending time working at something special even if it means making social sacrifices.
She adapts well to different surroundings. She mostly was immersed in the muggle world before she came to Hogwarts, but one would hardly be able to tell that she wasn't a part of it from the start. She applies things from both worlds to her everyday life to make things easier or more challenging depending on her needs. She isn't completely socially stupid. She is just very straightforward. If she doesn't like someone she will tell them rather than lead them on, giving the impression of coldness and the reputation of a prude. And her way of telling someone that she wants them around might be as subtle as showing them one of her secret talents that she's honed, or being there for them even when a silence comes, because a comfortable silence is so different from an awkward one.
She has had a few short-lived relationships, where she was unable to fully express her feelings to the other person. She gives up easily regarding emotions and throws them all into music. She hasn't learned how to express rather than internalize. When people approach her she is usually nice to them no matter who they are, she just normally doesn't approach them first. She cares for her family a lot but is always worried about something bad happening to one of them. She doesn't openly say so, but they are her support system. When she just needs to know that someone is there for her, she can go to them and talk, even if she normally doesn't. Just seeing her family happy makes her smile.
She has very little modesty; if she needs to get undressed for something, she'll do it right in front of people. She's proud of who she is. She won't do anything lewd, she just thinks that the human body is what it is, and people who think purely naughty things about it are just immature.

Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort.

HISTORY Shyrise was a premature surprise to her parents who were traveling at the time of her birth. And she was likely something as a challenge from there on out. She wasn't the sort of child that would misbehave, she just didn't respond to things the same way. She was mentally advanced for her age, doing magic when she was three, but she was socially off, not speaking her first word until about the same age. After that one word, though, she was extremely talkative and inquisitive with both her parents. She always felt kind of out of place among school friends. However, this last was really just a side-effect of being a witch in a muggle starting school. When she was eleven and went to Hogwarts she became more the person she was meant to be.
After a lengthy debate with the sorting hat which was indecisive between Slytherin and Ravenclaw, Shyrise was sorted into Ravenclaw for her wit rather than Slytherin for her ambition. She honestly just wanted to be in the same house as her parents had been. She delighted in all the new things that she could learn, and spent hours studying alone and searching the library for new material. And when she wasn't in the mood for all that, she played violin, which she'd started at the age of five. She didn't make a lot of friends because she hardly noticed others when compared to the magical world she'd discovered. By her fifth year she did desire at least one companion. She was at once admired and rejected by the people around her who thought her aloof attitude interesting but unapproachable. So making friends was hard for her. She dived into a relationship with the first person who got to know her, but eventually they left her when she had difficulty telling them her feelings. She went back to her earlier passions, secretly wondering what could have been if only she'd opened her heart up more.
Her home life was much healthier. She teased her younger siblings on occasion, and liked to cook in the kitchen with her mother. She worried about her father being at work even though most of the danger passed before she was born. Being with her family was a source of contentment because she didn't have to pretend to be any more or less than who she was. She could just 'be'.
Since she has only two years left of school she wants to make the best of them. Make friends, get the best grades, and balance it all without losing her mind. And if she's lucky, find someone who makes her feel as comfortable with herself as her family does.

RP EXPERIENCE? SO LONG.
RP SAMPLE.
Shalie could hardly contain her excitement right now. She had been wanting to see him basically since the last time that they parted company, and besides that, now she had a distraction. She didn't want to think about the people who were in danger, or the upcoming school year that she would miss, or even the fact that she'd been considering taking a more active role in all of it. It was something she was positive she wouldn't tell her father, either. Maybe the best thing she could do would be leave home as though she was going to be in school and secretly go somewhere else. She would tell Josh, though, of course. She didn't know what he would think of it. No matter how she tried, she couldn't imagine his reaction, whether it would be positive or negative. But keeping it from him wasn't an option. He wasn't like her father, he knew what the cost would be if the Death Eaters took over. She'd just wait until the right time to bring it up. Or, more likely, she'd say it at the most inopportune moment. She couldn't help herself sometimes, she felt guilty keeping things from others.
His laugh made her smile widen, and his smirk made the butterflies in her stomach flutter. The two occurring in the same few seconds made her feel almost giddy. She laughed at his rhyme. “I wouldn't have felt sorry either way,” she said with a sly kind of smile on her face. She didn't know why, but she was flirting shamelessly. Maybe it was the fact that she knew her father was away, and she already felt naughty having a boy over. Her father didn't even know how close she'd come to shattering her purity with Josh. Or maybe he wouldn't have gone away when he did. He was used to her spending her summers alone, reading. This summer, she actually had a few plans. He never saw that coming, and Shalie couldn't blame him. When Josh produced the flowers, Shalie just looked at him for a moment in surprise. She had never gotten flowers before... It was something that she had never thought would happen. And she'd been fine with that. So much that she'd forgotten that it was a practice among couples. She took them and then looked at him with a shy smile. “Thank you. I didn't expect that... I wonder if I could make them live longer through magic,” she said. It was a Ravenclaw problem she would think that first, but it was also because she wanted to have something there to think of him. Her face went a bit red when he pulled her toward him. She missed the closeness. It still made her feel safe with all the anxieties in her mind. She rested her head against him for a moment. She almost didn't want to move. Hearing that he missed her, though, she looked up at him. Of course he would feel that way too, but hearing him say it made her happy. It kind of made her feel better about what she'd been thinking only a moment ago.
When he gave her a kiss, it made those earlier thoughts intensify. She didn't know why she was like this. The logical part of her thought that perhaps once she got it out her system she would stop having thoughts like that. Maybe it was just curiosity. But she thought it was more than that. Being close to Josh was something that she wanted because she loved him, not because it was something new. Obviously. She could have done that long time ago, but she wasn't interested in anyone else. She opened her mouth to make a rather bold suggestion when he said something about burning. And then she remembered. “OH! Well... I was trying to cook and I burned some mushrooms.” She looked at him for a second, feeling like a moron. But she took his hand and led him to the couch nearest the entrance. She kind of wanted to push him right onto the couch and follow, but she had a feeling being aggressive wasn't a good way to start things. She had the confidence burning in her for a few moments but then the memory of her stupidity had hit her. “I'm glad that you could show up,” she said, sitting on the couch and looking down at her hands. Better she keep them to herself. “There's actually... I need to tell you something. A few things, I guess.” She looked at him, the nerves dancing in her chest. “I'm not going back to school this year. But I'm not going to stay in the muggle world with my father like he wants me to, either. I decided that I'm going to join the Order.” She wondered if he knew much about the Order. The main way that she knew was that she had met one of the members over the summer... And she knew that she could help them. Still... she didn't know that it was a good time for her to be saying this. She hoped that by getting it out of the way as soon as possible they could spend the rest of the time recovering from whatever ended up happening. So at the least, it hadn't been an accident.
